Work place injuries are a common occurrence that could be avoided with increased awareness and safety precautions. That is why it is important to be aware of some of the common types of work place accidents. In this blog, we explain 7 workplace accents that you should be more aware of.

  • Slips, Trips, & Falls: Falls on wet and slippery floors or trips over objects lying on the floor are the number 2 cause of workplace accidents. It is important to ensure that all work areas are clear of dangerous debris and that all wet surfaces are promptly cleaned.
  • Falls From Heights: This kind of accident typically occurs in work environments that feature elevated areas like roofs, ladders, and stairways. These accidents can be significantly reduced with proper protection gear, training, and employee diligence.
  • Falling Objects: Serious injuries can be caused by objects that fall off of shelves or are dropped by another person. Head injuries often result from this type of accident.
  • Walking Into Objects: Employees accidentally running into concrete objects like walls, doors, cabinets, glass windows, table and chairs is a common workplace occurrence. Employees usually suffer head, knee, neck, and foot injuries from accidentally walking into an object.
  • Vehicle Accidents: Employees who drive or work around small or large vehicles have a high risk of injury. Sometimes they are injured by the vehicles themselves, or by items falling off of the vehicles. These types of mishaps can result in neck injuries, head injuries, broken limbs, and other traumatic injuries.
  • Electric Shock: This kind of accident can be fatal and is actually the fourth most common workplace accident. Electricians and other employees who work with electricity on a regular basis are at high risk for this injury.
  • Machine Entanglement: Factories that use heavy equipment and machinery tend to have these kinds of accidents. Clothing, shoes, fingers, and hair can sometimes become entangled in machines and result in traumatic injuries.
